Kanimozhi Karunanidhi

Kanimozhi was born on 5 January 1968, according to her Lok Sabha profile. She is the daughter of M. Karunanidhi and Rajathi Ammal. In an extract from a book on Karunanidhi, published by the National Herald, he refers to Rajathi Ammal as the mother of his daughter Kanimozhi.
Her Lok Sabha profile gives her educational qualification as a master's degree in economics. The profile lists her as married to G. Aravindan on 3 October 1997, and records one son. The National Herald extract describes her as a poet who is equally fluent in Tamil and English.
Kanimozhi served as a Rajya Sabha member from Tamil Nadu for the DMK. Her Lok Sabha profile records this membership as running from 2007 to 2019. In the 2019 general election she was elected to the 17th Lok Sabha from Thoothukudi.
She was re-elected from Thoothukudi in 2024.
